Fires, Forest, And Native Arts Camp

Grangeville, IdahoEnrollment is currently underway for the Fire, Forests, and Native Arts day camp at the Craigmont Elementary School. The camp is FREE to all 4th – 6th grade students and a lunch will be provided each day.   The camp will take place on June 29 - July 2, from 8:30-2:00 pm.

Students will conduct fire experiments and hike in the woods; learn about campfire safety, orienteering, air quality, and Nez Perce tribal culture; and roast s’mores, play games and make a flute at the Nez Perce National Historic Park.

The Nez Perce Tribe, Nez Perce National Historic Park, Clearwater Rural Conservation & Development, and the Clearwater National Forest have partnered to conduct this camp and three others which will be located in the communities of Juliaetta, Orofino, and Weippe this summer. The camp was funded in part through a US Forest Service challenge-grant program called “More Kids in the Woods”. The program seeks to provide hands-on recreation and conservation education for “underserved or urban youth”. This year, the US Forest Service contributed $500,000 to 21 initiatives across the country.

To enroll or for additional information about the camp, call: (208) 621-4621.
